Appreciate Your Director!

When people think about the movies they usually remember the beautiful actresses, or the enchanting dialog, but they rarely think about the person behind the scenes, the person who makes the movie magic happen: the director. So to honor this noble position in movie making were gonna look at some of the best directors out there!

1. Alfred Hitchcock: one of my favorite directors of all time! his movies are beyond twisted and no one can make a thriller like he can! No one should leave this world without seeing at least one of his movies.
Movies Best Known For: Psycho, Rear Window, The Birds, North By Northwest, and about a million more movies. <3
Fun Fact About Mr.Hitchcock: While directing Psycho (1960), Hitchcock was having trouble getting actress Vera Miles to scream properly for the infamous shower scene so in order to get his scream he surprised her from behind with a bucket full of cold water.

2. Quentin Tarantino: I can honestly say this man will go down in history for being one of the best directors of our time. His movies are full of the brutal vulgarity and b-rated 70's themes that only he can deliver!
Movies Best Known For: Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill (vol. 1 and 2), Inglorious Bastards
Fun Fact About Mr.Tarantino: In Berlin, Germany there is a Quentin Tarantino themed bar called Tarantino's.

3. Tim Burton: Known for his unique imagery Tim Burton is one of the most talented director when it comes to visual affect. I love how dark and interesting all his movies are and hes definitely top 10 material when it comes to directors<3
Movies Best Known For: Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Corpse Bride, Alice in Wonderland, and many many more!
Fun Fact About Mr.Burton: He Ranked #6 on Tropopkin's Top 25 Most Intriguing People!

4. Hayao Miyazaki: This man is brilliant when it comes to animation! Hes not a very known name when it comes to directors but he has directed some of my favorite movies of all time so i am showing a little respect.

Movies Best Known For: Spirited Away, Ponyo, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle
Fun Fact About Mr.Miyazaki: Is often called The Walt Disney of Japan (but he hates the title)

Hope you enjoyed hearing a little about the people who aren't on the big screen! Remember to respect your director!!!

A Birthday Celebration! (one day belated)

Hes awkward, hes adorable, and how hes 23! So as a birthday present to Mr. Michael Cera, were gonna have a little actor appreciation!

Lets start with some fun facts:
- He was born in Ontario, Canada
- He played mandolin and supplied back-up vocals for the Weezer song "Hang on"
- His first role (with lines) was a Pillsbury commercial! He got to poke the Pillsbury Doughboy! xD

His First Acting Job: I Was A Sixth Grade Alien (Canadian t.v. series) (1999)
Not exactly the most popular show...(i couldn't even find a picture for you guys). but its how he got his start so we might as well bring it up :)

His Big Break: Arrested Development (T.V Series) (2003-2006)
Playing the quirky son George-Michel Bluth, this was Michael Cera's first big acting role. I absolutely loved this show when is was on<3 (and as rumor has it, he will be returning as George-Michel in the Arrested Development movie)
Made Famous By: Juno (2007)
A really adorable movie that everyone was talking about for a while. Michael doesn't really play a huge role but he won a lot of awards for his performance so in my mind this is what got his name out there.

Best Known For: Superbad (2007)
This movie was hysterical! By far my favorite Michael Cera movie. The comedy can get a bit raunchy at times but its worth a watch. I am sure you've all seen it but if not go rent it!

Other Great Movies With Micheal Cera:
  1. Nick And Nora's Infinite Playlist (2008)
  2. Paper Hearts (2009)
  3. Year One (2009)
  4. Youth In Revolt (2009)
  5. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World (2010)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL CERA! hope you all enjoyed :)

Movies Threw The Years: Vampires

From the creepy crawly Nosferatu to the sparkly charming Edward Cullen, vampires have been haunting our screens for more then a century. So because vampires have become a household name when it comes to movies, i think they should have there time to shine. (no pun intended).

The first vampire to really make a big impact in the movies was Nosferatu (1922)(Silent Picture) Estate agent Knock dispatches his associate, Hutter, to Count Orlok's castle in Transylvania as the Count wants to purchase a isolated house in Wisbourg. Hutter manages to sell Count Orlok the house but he also begins to notice a number of peculiarities about him...and they all point to one thing: vampire. This movie is a must see for all those vampire lovers out there!

Probably the most famous name in the history of vampires, the one, the only, DRACULA!!!!
A movie classic if i ever did see one. Starring the enchanting Bela Lugosi this was the first movie made based on the classic story by Bram Stoker. Originally released in 1931 this movie does get a little campy at times but back in the day it was enough to scare people out of there pants.

This movie is my all time favorite when it comes to vampires:
Interview with the Vampire (1994)
Starring one of the most amazing actors of our time (Brad Pitt), this movie revolves around the vampire Louis who tells a young reporter the story of his life, his death, and his "birth into darkness". If you haven't seen this cinematic masterpiece you have yet to earn the title of movie buff!

Okay. even though this goes against all codes i have as a movie goer, it was a huge fad and changed the view on vampires thus far. So for the sake of your movie education, im gonna bite the bullet:
The Twilight Saga (2008)
Im sure you all know the story but ill supply a synopsis anyway. The young, insecure Bella Swan moves to the small town of Forks and is instantly attracted to the beautiful, mysterious Edward Cullen. So...it may not be my "favorite" vampire flick but its movie history none the less.

Hope you all enjoyed a little bit of vampire history! see you all next time :D

my first post on my first blog :D

Being that this is my VERY first post on my VERY first blog todays topic will be... you guessed it, movie firsts! so why don't we get started:

The First Movie To Ever Win An Oscar: "Wings" 1927 (silent picture)
Jack Powell and David Armstrong are rivals in the same small town, both vying for the attentions of pretty Sylvia Lewis. The two young men both enlist to become combat pilots in the Air Service. if your into old school Hollywood movies this is one to watch.
Fun Fact: this was the first and only silent film to ever be awarded best picture by the academy awards

The First Movie To Break 1 Billion Dollars In The Box Office: "Titanic" 1997
Well if any movie could break 1bil. it's this one xD
starring the beautiful Leonardo DiCaprio, this story is about a boy and girl meet during the ill-fated maiden voyage of RMS Titanic. It has the power to bring grown men to tears, if you haven't seen it go a rent it asap!

My First "R" Rated Movie: "Rocky Horror Picture Show" 1975
Not exactly the scariest "R" rated movie ever made but its probably the strangest and definitely my first! Starring a young Tim Curry, this movie is about a newly engaged couple Brad Majors and Janet Weiss, who find themselves lost and with a flat tire on a cold and rainy evening. Seeking a phone with which to call for help at a nearby castle, Brad and Janet discover a group of strange and outlandish people who are holding an Annual Transylvanian Convention. One of my absolute favorite movies<3

Well, thats all i had time to write in class... so toon in next time for more movie junk<3
